NASA’s Space Launch System, or SLS, got a step closer to launch last week when an engine section of the deep-space rocket arrived at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) after an 18-day, 1,240-mile journey on the Pegasus barge. The engine section is first major SLS hardware, which is manufactured at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, to arrive at Marshall for testing. The delivery marks a critical milestone toward the first integrated flight of the SLS rocket and NASA's Orion spacecraft, which will take humans on missions to an asteroid and eventually to Mars.
