Community Volunteer Opportunities

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) is seeking friendly and enthusiastic people (ages 16+) to become part of our dynamic volunteer team! Volunteers are an important part of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center family and we have many opportunities available for space enthusiasts looking to develop a greater understanding of space exploration, science and aviation.

  • The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a Smithsonian Affiliate and the Official Visitor Center for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.

  • Special benefits are available to volunteers, including 20% discount on all food, 20% discount on non-sale gift shop merchandise (excluding candy, videos and films), and 10% discount on books in the gift shop. Volunteers also get two complimentary passes to the museum and IMAX® Spacedome Theater after volunteering for only 40 hours, 20% facility discount with annual service of 80 hours and $200 off weeklong Camp programs with 160 annual volunteer hours. With 320 annual hours, volunteers receive a commemorative brick in the Apollo Courtyard bearing their name!

Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Greet guests at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center
  • Assist in special events, there are opportunities in all areas from seating guests to mailing invitations.
  • Offer Administrative help such as filing or typing for a more behind-the-scenes view
  • Provide assistance with facility maintenance
