    Upcoming Presentations:

July 31, Cocktails & Cosmos: Mission to Mars
Continuing to pave the way for human missions to Mars, NASA's Perseverance Rover is set to launch near the end of summer 2020. The latest Mars mission in an extensive history of Martian exploration, discover what Perseverance intends to study and accomplish on Mars and explore what it will take to send humans to Mars within our lifetimes.

    August 7, Alabama Summer Skies
Navigate your way through what's up in the summer in this live, guided tour of the night sky. Learn to find stars, constellations, planets, and other far-out objects (such as nebulae and even galaxies) with imagery from telescopes like Hubble. A traditional planetarium experience with a modern kick of technology, take your newly acquired knowledge, and explore the night sky from your own backyard.

August 14, Cocktails & Cosmos: Artemis
Fresh of the first crewed launch on American soil since 2011, NASA is allied with the private sector in a valiant push to get humans back on the moon by 2024. If we were able to do it 50 years ago, what is the difficulty now? Together we will explore the complexity of the new Artemis mission to return to the moon to establish a consistent human presence.

August 21, Astronomy for All: What is a Planet?
In a world where the public still mourns the reclassification of Pluto and where kids still send letters of protest to the scientists responsible, we are compelled to take another look at the definition of a planet, a source of great debate among scientists even today. If the attributes of a “planet” cannot be unanimously agreed upon, then how can we use the word so casually here in the planetarium every day? Why is it so important to define the word “planet,” and what meaning does the word still carry, if any?

August 28, Cocktails & Cosmos: Colorful Cosmos
You’ve seen the stunningly vivid imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope, and you’ve seen the otherworldly false-color images of landscapes in our solar system, but what does the universe really look like? How does astronomy use color to help us better understand the cosmos? Explore the color palette of space with us and bring all your chromatic questions!

    September 4, Alabama Autumn Skies
Navigate your way through what's up in the fall in this live, guided tour of the night sky. Learn to find stars, constellations, planets, and other far-out objects (such as nebulae and even galaxies) with imagery from telescopes like Hubble. A traditional planetarium experience with a modern kick of technology, take your newly acquired knowledge and explore the night sky from your own backyard.

September 11, Cocktails & Cosmos: ISS, Home Away from Home
The International Space Station has a very complex design and systems to accommodate human life and allow astronauts to perform unique science experiments. In this event, we’ll be taking a close look at what it’s like to live on the ISS and how it works, inside and out.

September 18, Astronomy for All: Stars
Here on Earth, stars appear as a small and faint flicker of light, but they are actually enormous balls of hot plasma whose life cycles begin and end in spectacularly violent fashion. In this show, we’ll explore faraway stars as well as our own star, the sun, and the solar processes that provide us with life-sustaining necessities on Earth. Discover more about nebulae, supernovae, pulsars, black holes, and, of course, stars!

September 25, Cocktails & Cosmos: Mission to Mars
Continuing to pave the way for human missions to Mars, NASA's Perseverance Rover is set to launch near the end of summer 2020. The latest Mars mission in an extensive history of Martian exploration, discover what Perseverance intends to study and accomplish on Mars and explore what it will take to send humans to Mars within our lifetimes.

    October 2, Alabama Autumn Skies
Navigate your way through what's up in the fall in this live, guided tour of the night sky. Learn to find stars, constellations, planets, and other far-out objects (such as nebulae and even galaxies) with imagery from telescopes like Hubble. A traditional planetarium experience with a modern kick of technology, take your newly acquired knowledge and explore the night sky from your own backyard.

The health and safety of our guests is our highest priority! We are taking measures to ensure that social distancing will be practiced throughout the night. Facial coverings are encouraged.
