Saturday Scientist | Microscopes: Mico-Universe in a Petri Dish

Sat, 2018/04/14 - 11:30am

Mico-Universe in a Petri Dish

Examine the complexities of life on Earth and the potential for life on other plants. Study the extreme habitats of lifeforms on Earth from the deep depths of the dark oceans to the fiery pits of volcanoes, and use microscopes to examine samples of algae and through scientific observations design life forms from extra solar planets.

Join us on the second Saturday of each month at 11:30 a.m. for the Saturday Scientist series, an educational series featuring activities recommended for ages 6-9.

This monthly hands-on activity is included with museum membership or paid admission and emphasizes the development of “STEAM” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). This series includes exciting topics like solar energy, precipitation, geology of space and chemistry.

All workshops are aligned to Next Generation Science (NGSS), Common Core Math (CCM), and Alabama College and Career Readiness Standards (ALCCRS).

Reserve your seat at the main ticket desk upon your arrival.

Museum members may enter the Davidson Center for Space Exploration.
