Maker Monday

Included with museum admission

Maker Mondays

Join us for Maker Mondays every Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maker Monday programming is included with museum admission and is intended to stimulate inquiring minds of all ages with hands-on STEM demonstrations and guided, engaging activities.

April 1, 8, 15, 22 - Information Highway: How the Internet Works - Students will recognize how communication has changed over the last one hundred years, specifically with the assistance of electricity. The power of electricity allowed us to develop what we know today as the Internet. Students will explore the main components which build the infrastructure of the Internet through a teamwork activity. Students will simulate a network of computers, which will send and receive messages to one another, while continuously trying to improve their speed. They will replicate the principle of continuous improvement which drives telecommunications companies to constantly raise their standards.

May 6, 13, 20 - Robonauts and Botley: Investigating Robots as Tools - Join us as we use Botley coding robots to talk about the basics of coding (computer language) and how we use robots as tools in our daily lives and in space.
