Field Trip: Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How far in advance should I make my reservations?

    • Space is limited, so please book your group at least two to three weeks in advance to accommodate your group needs. Reservations are made by emailing your requests to museumgroups@spacecamp.com or filling out our Request a Date form. Please call 1-800-637-7223 if you have any questions.
  2. How long should we plan to stay?

    • We advise at least three to four hours to tour the museum without a guide. Additional time may be needed if your group would like to watch a movie or eat lunch.
  3. What number of people is considered a group?

    • A minimum of 15 people is required to be considered a group.
  4. Will my group get wristbands or tickets?

    • Your group will receive colored wristbands during check-in.
  5. Can my group bring their own lunches?

    • Yes! You may bring sack lunches packed from home or a school if you choose. However, we do not allow food from outside vendors or restaurants. Peanuts and other nut products are not permitted, in order to ensure the safety of our guests with allergies.
  6. What forms of payment do you accept?

    • We accept cash, school/district/institution checks, and all major credit cards.
  7. When is payment due?

    • Full payment is due upon arrival at check-in. We do not accept purchase orders.
  8. A parent decided to accompany our group at the last minute. Will they get the group rate?

    • Yes! The parent must let Guest Services know they are visiting with a group when purchasing their ticket. However, we cannot guarantee that the parent will be able to participate in all activities the group has scheduled.
  9. Where do buses park?

    • Bus parking is available in the parking lot at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration.
  10. Where is group check-in?

    • Group check-in is at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration unless otherwise instructed. Please enter through the black gates beside the vertical Saturn V rocket. The group leader should check-in first before the group unloads the bus. The Guest Services Coordinator will give instructions on where to wristband your group and start your adventure!
  11. Where is group departure?

    • Groups depart from the main entrance through the Space Shop.
  12. Can parents use their memberships for field trips?

    • No. Unfortunately, membership cannot be applied to group reservations.
  13. What do we do if it rains?

    • We are open rain or shine! In the event of inclement weather on the day of your visit, or if inclement weather is forecasted, we are more than happy to reschedule your group for a later visit date. Public simulators are available as weather permits.
  14. What are the best days to visit?

    • Monday and Tuesday are not as crowded because most schools choose days toward the end of the week. We suggest to reserve your visit on a Monday or Tuesday.
  15. When will I receive a schedule?

    • Schedules are given upon arrival.
  16. I didn’t get a confirmation e-mail or call for my trip. What do I do?

    • First, check your spam or junk folder to see if the e-mail is there. If not, give us a call at 1-800-637-7223 or email us at museumgroups@spacecamp.com. Please allow 24 to 48 hours for a confirmation call or email.
  17. Do bus drivers pay the group rate for admission?

    • Bus drivers receive complimentary general admission. Lunch and movie tickets are not included.
  18. Running late on the day of your visit?

  19. Have a student with a dietary restriction?

    • No worries! Please let us know your dietary restrictions at least two weeks in advance to ensure we can accommodate your requests.
  20. When should I have a final head count for my group?

    • We must have your group's final head count three weeks in advance for staffing purposes.
  21. Who will send me confirmation for my group visit?

    • Group registrations are sent from the U.S. Space & Rocket Center sales department by email. If you need to make changes, please email your Sales Coordinator. The USSRC Sales inbox is not monitored. Please do not reply to that address.
  22. What is the museum group refund policy?

    • No refunds will be issued for headcount changes made within 48 hours of your group’s visit date. This only applies if you have paid in advance or bring a check for more than the amount that attending without notifying Guest Services or a Group Sales Coordinator 48 hours or more in advance.
  23. Due to camp gradations' being held in multiple locations at our center, please be advised that Fridays will be crowded and can affect museum operations in the Saturn V Hall from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
