Have Lunch with an Astronaut at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Each Friday, May 12 through Aug. 18, Space Camp® is offering the chance to have lunch with an astronaut. Guests can enjoy a delicious lunch while hearing about the astronaut’s exciting journey to space. They can also enjoy personal interaction and have their picture made with the astronaut speaker for the week. Most weeks in the summer are already sold out, but there is availability the next three Fridays for members of the community. Retired U.S. Navy Capt. Wendy Lawrence, the veteran of four space flights, is the first speaker of the season, and will talk about her experiences aboard space shuttles Endeavour, Atlantis and Discovery this Friday, May 12. Bob Stewart, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general and two-time astronaut, is the speaker for May 19, and Robert “Hoot” Gibson, a retired U.S. Navy captain and five-time astronaut and air race pilot, will talk about his varied career May 26. Lunches are on Friday from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person.
