Despite being in space, the ISS is known for having a distinct smell. Astronauts have described it as spent gunpowder and ozone mixed with the slight smell of human body odor. While there is a strict hygiene regimen aboard ISS, there are complex carbon filters that capture much of the odors and keep the space station smelling pleasant.
