Frequently asked questions about transportation to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center home of Space Camp, Aviation Challenge, U.S. Cyber Camp, and Space Camp Robotics programs
Traveling to and from Camp:
- Will Space Camp pick up my child from the airport?
-
Trainees arriving for weeklong, overnight camps may be picked up at the Huntsville International Airport (HSV) for an additional fee. Space Camp and Aviation Challenge are located approximately 15 minutes from Huntsville International.
To arrange airport pick-up and drop-off, simply pay the fee and fill out your transportation form located in your camp confirmation. Round-trip airport transportation fee: $100
- Will my child need money for return baggage fees?
-
If your airline requires a checked baggage fee for the return flight, you will need to provide your child with the appropriate funds to pay for the baggage.
- Where will you meet my child at the airport?
-
Your child will be met at the flight’s arrival gate, then escorted to baggage claim and then on to ground transportation to the Space Camp campus.
- When will Space Camp take my child to the airport before their flight?
-
The Space Camp transportation team will have your child arrive at the airport two hours prior to the scheduled flight. (Example: A child on Delta flight 234 departing at 5:35 p.m. CT will arrive at the airport at 3:35 p.m. CT for the flight) A member of our team will check your child in at the ticket desk, escort them through security, and wait with them at their flights gate until they have boarded the flight and the plane is in the air.
- What if my child’s return flight is delayed or cancelled?
-
If your child’s outbound flight is delayed, a member of our team will continue to wait with your child until they board the flight and depart. In the event the outbound flight is cancelled, the team member will escort your child to the ticket desk to rebook the outbound flight. If an outbound flight cannot be secured until the following day, your child will be escorted back to camp, and given sleeping accommodation and meals. On the following day, we will transport your child to the airport two hours prior to their flight and will begin the departure process again on the new outbound flight. We will apply standard late departure fees for the additional night’s room and board.
